How can we encourage 20-30's in the life of the Church
Excerpts of a task force meeting in December 2005.
The 20-30's task group consists of a number of ministers and lay people who have personal experience of what life in the Church feels like from a young person's perspective. It was formed following a report to conference in 2005 which encouraged Districts and Circuits to develop work among people who fall within this age-range. This task grouping the Lincoln and Grimsby District was formed to try and find ways of reaching, encouraging, enabling 20-30's. This includes evangelism.
We need to understand our present position, before we make any plans for the future. What follows in this brief report is a recognition of problems faced by young people, the specific needs of two different age groups 17-23 and 23-40, and a possible strategy for mission. Further to this is an advice sheet offering guidelines on how to encourage fresh expressions of Church life by developing small groups that welcome people on the fringes of the Church.
All of these documents have been circulated among members of the DPC and all superintendents. I commend them to you.
