A Fair Feast for all

here.

MRDF E-News
January 2011

MRDF

Welcome to the January edition of E-News with all the latest updates from MRDF.

A Fair Feast for all

Fair Feast gives you the opportunity to help eradicate hunger and make the world a fairer place. It’s a great way to celebrate Pancake Day (23 February) and Fairtrade Fortnight (27 Feb -11 March) in 2012, and raise money that will be invested in some of the world’s poorest communities, through MRDF’s partners. There are many ways to get involved, such as organising a coffee morning, a pancake evening or a quiz night. You might want to ‘feast in worship’ by using our specially prepared sermon notes or reflection.

Seeds of change in Ethiopia

Wude Besha lives in the Wof Washa forest in the remote Ethiopian highlands. She is a widow supporting six children of her own and two adults with disabilities. Six years ago her only source of income was growing a herb used in the production of local beer. After receiving seeds and training Wude is growing a variety of vegetables including carrots, cabbages and beetroot. Wude now has an income sufficient to feed and clothe her family, and has been able to replace the roof of her house.

Healthy mothers and babies in Mali

Mali is one of the worst places in the world to be an expectant mother; 830 out of 100,000 women die in childbirth or from pregnancy complications every year. The nearest health centre for women in Kondou in south-western Mali used to be 10km away, but now an MRDF project is funding a local clinic. This is enabling more women to receive pre and post-natal healthcare.

Your church can support mums in Mali through our
Partner a Project scheme.

You can help tip the balance in favour of the world’s poorest people by taking action on issues like debt and climate change with MRDF.
