The Wesleyan Society purchased land from a Mr J Turner of Kirton Lindsey and the Chapel was erected in 1822.
John Olivant, Farmer and John Laughton, Landlord of the Rose and Crown were the first stewards and trustees.
In 1839 63 of the 70 seats were let to residents of Upton and Kexby.
The 1851 census recorded a 'Great Many Sabbath Day Scholars', so it is presumed that is when the Schoolroom was added. Until a few years back the Sunday School played a big part in the activities at Chapel. The Annual Sunday School Anniversary, the teas and trip to the seaside.
Through the year, and still today the Fotheringham family have been loyal members.
