COMMENTARY
In the wedding at Cana John tells the simple story of a wedding, which more importantly is a 'sign'. A wedding is taking place, not only the one at Cana, but also the more important one between God and his people. God joins Israel in the appearance of his Son. When Jesus changes the water into wine, he replaces the old order [water] with the new [wine]. The astonishing amount of wine suggests the superabundant blessings of the new age. Here lies the truth behind the wedding scene. Jesus revealed his 'glory' and the disciple 'saw' and began to 'believe' in him.
