Active8
Towards 2008
Why
Active8
At Louth Methodist Church we have been putting together and working through a Renewal Programme for the last two years. We have identified five key areas for development. This is not to say these areas are not effective
already or that what we have been
doing in the past has been wrong.
Far from it.
We believe that what we are doing now is only possible
because of what has gone on before and the strong
commitment many have shown in
the mission and worship of Louth Methodist Church. |

5 key areas to renewing the heart of the Church
Property, Membership
Structures, Fringe
|
In 1808 the Methodist Society in Louth built its first chapel on our current site.
In 2008 we celebrate the bi-centenary of this building. That gives us five full years to activate our plans - to complete our renewal programme. Hence active – 8!
The 5 strands of our programme
Property
One of our main priorities is to improve the facilities at Nichol Hill, particularly in terms of access for the less able.
Our redevelopment plans will also make the premises more usable for the community as a whole.
Membership
One of our concerns is that our focus is
becoming more maintenance orientated and we are not allowing people to exercise their gifts and skills appropriately. We are working towards freeing up time and opportunity for all.
Committee Structure
Our committees have become over
burdensome to many. They have led the agenda, rather than been an aid to
fulfilling our purpose.
As part of our renewal programme we have already changed from committees to purpose groups with more specific tasks.
The Fringe
If Church is anything it is about enabling people to sense the call of God in their lives. At Louth Methodist Church our main purpose is to do just that, both for our committed worshippers and those outside of membership of the church and on the fringe. We aim to be more
Inclusive in all aspects of our work.
Children & Young People
The fifth area we are looking into is a new pattern for our young peoples work that will give fresh vision and impetus to our existing work. Building alongside our present groups an integrated programme that covers all ages. We have called this programme the GAP.

Playing our part
None of this is going to happen
automatically. As a Church we have committed ourselves to action,
and through this action to see the church renewed for this time and place.
There are plenty of opportunities to get
involved and help us to achieve our target of a
renewed church by 2008 We invite you to join with us on this journey. To experience more fully God's call on the Church and to be better equipped to live out the life Christian discipleship calls us to, within the love of God.
